Men’s Walk
Saturday 3rd December
The rain on Friday night made some of us wonder about the advisability of the latest Men’s Walk planned for the following Saturday. We needn’t have worried, though, as the morning dawned with beautiful blue skies and sunshine!
There were not quite so many men on this walk (the lure of a day of Christmas shopping, perhaps?) But, promptly at 9.15am, eight of us travelled to Breedon for the walk. We didn’t climb the hill, but took a really interesting route around the golf course and fields. The weather was really good, with a brisk cool wind to keep us going, and, though underfoot was a bit sludgy in places and there were a couple of vicious styles and a very slippery bank to negotiate, we thoroughly enjoyed the walk.
Ending at the Breedon Garden Centre ‘tea rooms’ everyone indulged in a lovely ‘full English’ which finished the morning off to a tee! Thanks to Alan Liggins (aided and abetted by Adrian Bristoll) for another fantastic event of fun, fellowship - and a good meal.

Men’s Walk
Saturday 3rd March 2012
In contract to the December walk, Friday was exceptionally sunny and mild (but the forecast was not too promising). Of course, on this occasion, the forecast was correct, and Saturday morning was damp , cool and misty - but at least the heavier rain forecast held off until after the event!
Eleven men met at 8,30am to travel to the Swithland area for the walk. It proved, again, to be most enjoyable. We met lots of other people - dog walkers, cyclists and joggers, as we made our way into and around Swithland woods. We finished at the Griffin Inn for a great full English breakfast. Although everyone didn’t want the black pudding, we were all instructed to have it and pass any unwanted ones onto our black pudding guru, who ended up with about seven full portions!! All in all it was another very enjoyable occasion of fun, food and fellowship. Thanks again to Adrian Bristoll and Alan Liggins for organising the walk.
Here’s to the next walk and breakfast, planned for Saturday APRIL 28th. Please contact Alan Liggins if you would like to jtake part.
