PARISH NEWS (Scroll down for all the latest news)
The PARISH PROFILE is now complete.
A copy will be published here soon (see below).
Below is a message from Mary and the Churchwardens outlining the latest steps in the search for a new incumbent.
This page will be updated as and when further news is available.
Things are progressing in our search for a new incumbent. Our Parish Profile has been completed and photographs have been added. It is, in my opinion, a most attractive and encouraging document. As I write, on the second Friday in February, it is in the hands of the Archdeacon of Loughborough and the Area Dean.
The search will begin with the Bishop and his staff ascertaining if anyone currently in the Diocese who is seeking a new parish would be a suitable applicant. If there is no-one an advert will be placed on the Diocesan website and a national clergy website. If that proves unsuccessful we will advertise nationally in the church press.
The profile will soon be available for you to see – a link will be available on this web site so that you can download a copy to read or print out, or you can borrow a copy from church to take home to read and then return.
When we do have candidates for the post, interviews will take place. The interview panel will consist of the Archdeacon, the Area Dean and two representatives from St. David’s. At the special PCC meeting on February 1st, the Section 11 meeting, our two representatives were elected. All members of the PCC present at the previous meeting had been asked to write down the names of the two people they would like to represent them. These names were seen only by Derek Whittaker who collated them and produced a list of the four people who had received the most nominations. At the Section 11 meeting there was a secret ballot, and of the four candidates Jill Harris and I were elected as the St. David’s representatives.
A lot of prayer had gone into this process, both by members of the PCC and other people in our church family. I pray that God’s will has been done and that He will work through us in the selection process. Jill and I both love this church and its people and are committed to its future.
Some of the discussions and processes will be confidential, but if there is anything we can share with you be assured that we will.
During the interregnum most of our services have continued as usual. We have been fortunate to have a number of clergy, either retired or from neighbouring parishes, who have covered many of our Holy Communion services. It is really good to experience their different ways of leading our worship. Unfortunately, it is not possible to cover all the 8.00am services, and so, for the time being, there will be a service on the first and third Sunday of each month. On the other Sundays there is a service at 10.00am for those who wish to celebrate Holy Communion on Sunday, and there is a BCP Communion service each Thursday at 10.00am which is really enjoyed and valued by those who attend.
Apparently, there were a lot of clergy around during our last interregnum, but many things have changed during the past 19 years and this is no longer the case. We’re doing the best we can!
